Mental Health Issues

Sid, our protagonist, suffers from bipolar disorder, or manic depressive illness.  This disease, while both very serious a debilitating, is also quite fascinating.  Why should too mood swings – mania and depression – that appear to be polar opposites of one another, be connected by a single disease state?

  1. Here is another conversation starter

One of the major themes in Bad Pharma is about living with mental illness The protagonist in this novel lives and manages bipolar disorder. In many people the burden of mental illness makes them stronger. Some have said that Abraham Lincoln, who suffered from “melancholia”, was better equipped to deal with the horrors and sadness of the civil war as he was used to this uneasy feeling. At other times, someone’s mental illness becomes debilitating and a threat to others and society.
Many psychologists and psychiatrists have diagnosed Donald Trump with malignant narcissism What are your thoughts as to whether this debilitating mental illness should disqualify an individual for a position as important as the Presidency?
